ARTISTS

No two residencies are the same. Each artist arrives with different questions, interests, and ways of working, contributing to a constantly evolving community of ideas and perspectives. The artists featured here represent a wide range of disciplines, backgrounds, and approaches. Together, their projects offer a glimpse into the many paths creative practice can take during a residency at the Julia & Georges Foundation.

Autumn 2026

Mack McFarland, Carl Diehl & Zack Denfeld

„Carl Diehl and Mack McFarland have performed collaboratively for 25 years, and since 2007, in Portland, Oregon. As members of the band Weird-Fiction, from 2009 to 2016, they developed elaborate forms of audiovisual performance with an ensemble of artists, including Zack Denfeld, Vinh Nguyen, Sean Reagan, and Jeffrey Richardson. During the pandemic, they co-founded Quarantet2020 with artists Nat Hawks and Big World, reimagining Zoom calls and web browsers as instruments for multi-channel performance across networks. Since 2022, they have performed as the duo DMV, developing unique visual accompaniment for musicians including Gold Solid, Collate, and Dragging an Ox Through Water.“

Autumn 2026

Dilalia Duett

„Our encounter in 2015 was the fortunate starting point for us as actresses to open up creative collaborations in areas that, until then, had been unexplored by both of us. We come from distinct backgrounds – classical music and theatre – and from different cultures, German and Italian. In our work, which has also come to include writing and directing, this heterogeneity has become a fundamental resource: we work through integration and complementarity, often also in a bilingual form. Our practice is characterized by an artisanal approach to theatre, flexible and capable of adapting to non-conventional contexts, allowing us to inhabit a variety of spaces. We are driven by the desire to explore urgent and contemporary themes.“
